Preliminary influenza vaccine effectiveness estimates for 2021–22
The European I-MOVE network estimated influenza VE using a multicentre test-negative design among symptomatic patients presenting at primary care level between October 2021 and March 2022. Preliminary influenza VE against influenza A among seven study sites and among all ages was 36% (95%CI: 13–53) and 41% (95%CI: 15–59) among those aged 18–64 years. All-age VE against influenza A(H3N2) was 35% (95%CI: 6–54) and 37% (95%CI: 3–59) among those aged 18–64 years. There were too few influenza positive cases among other age groups to allow VE estimations.
The first I-MOVE-COVID-19 annual (virtual) meeting
The first I-MOVE-COVID-19 annual meeting took place virtually in three sessions on the 24 March 2021 (COVID-19 surveillance), 6 April 2021 (COVID-19 risk factors) and 7 April 2021 (COVID-19 vaccine effectiveness).
We thank the audience, speakers and moderators for extremely interesting and fruitful discussions!

Several I-MOVE sites gave oral and poster presentations at the 2019 ESCAIDE meeting in Stockholm, Sweden.
Congratulations to the teams from Ireland, the Netherlands, Portugal and the hospital and primary care networks.
In November and December 2019, site visits to two new hospital sites were carried out: in Scotland, UK and Granada, Spain.
The visits were fruitful and we all learnt a lot. Many thanks to the new sites and colleagues from existing sites who participated in the site visits.
